Start with one strong page if customers mainly need to know what you do and how to reach you. Move to a full website when you have several services, products to sell, or want to appear on Google for many different searches.
What a one page website is
Everything on a single page that scrolls: who you are, what you offer, a few photos, where to find you, and buttons to call, WhatsApp or get directions. On a phone, that is often exactly what a customer wants.
When one page is enough
- Customers mostly find you through WhatsApp, Instagram or word of mouth, and just want to check you are real.
- You offer one main service, or a short menu.
- You want business email and a presence online at the lowest running cost.
- You will add more later, once the business grows.
When you need a full website
- You offer several services, each worth its own page and its own search on Google.
- Customers should buy online and pay by Mobile Money or card.
- You publish news, articles, a menu that changes, or job openings.
- You need more than one language with real content in each.
Each extra page is another door Google can send people through. That is the main reason full websites win more searches.
What each costs to run
| One page | Full website | |
|---|---|---|
| Domain | Every year | Every year |
| Hosting | Can be on a free service such as Cloudflare’s free plan, with no hosting bill | Paid hosting every year, so you can run WordPress |
| Who edits it | Usually your designer, on request | You, in the WordPress dashboard |
| Room to grow | Limited, but can move to a full site later | Add pages, a shop or features any time |
