Look at live sites on your phone, ask who owns the domain and the code, and get the scope, price and support period in writing before work starts.
Open their work on your phone
Screenshots can hide a lot. Ask for links to live websites and open them on your phone, on mobile data. Do they load quickly? Can you find what you need with your thumb? Is there a clear way to call or WhatsApp?
Questions worth asking
| Ask | A good answer |
|---|---|
| Who will I work with? | The name of the person doing the work, and how to reach them. |
| What exactly is included? | Pages, features, content, languages, testing and training, in writing. |
| Who owns the domain, hosting and code? | The business, with its own logins. |
| Can I update the site myself? | Yes, with a walkthrough at handover. |
| How will customers pay? | A clear plan for Mobile Money or cards if you sell online. |
| What happens after launch? | A defined support period, and how changes are priced. |
Signals to watch for
- A price before anyone has asked what the website must do.
- No live examples, or examples that are slow or broken on a phone.
- The domain or hosting registered in the designer’s own account with no plan to transfer it.
- Promises of first place on Google by a certain date. Nobody can guarantee rankings.
- No written scope, only a total.

How Triad works
Triad is an independent WordPress practice in Kigali. You work directly with the person who plans and builds your site. Every project starts with a conversation, then a written proposal with the scope, price and schedule, a private preview during the build, and a walkthrough at launch.
